The final chapter of A Tribe Called Quest‘s illustrious novel, apparently, isn’t finished just yet.
Following the success of their sixth studio album, We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service (which landed atop the Billboard charts in its opening week), as well as a memorable performance on Saturday Night Live (with Dave Chappelle), Q-Tip spoke with BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac on her show about the future of Tribe. What he said should no doubt excite Tribe fans.
“Stay tuned for any other incarnation, because we don’t intend on stopping,” Tip says. Phife’s M.O. was, ‘This time we gotta do it and keep going,’ and now he’s left us with the equation of how do we do it, but we are going to need it, and we’re going to continue.”
That, however, did not mean that a seventh album is in the stars. When asked about We Got It From Here Q-Tip admitted that he considers the album to be “closure,” stating that it may be too difficult doing another album without his fallen compadre Phife.
