It’s no secret that in past years, the vinyl record medium has made a resurgence. (A mid-year Nielsen report found that “Vinyl LP sales [are] up 12% and now comprise nearly 12% of physical album sales.”)

This revival can be attributed in part to a small demographic of music lovers who yearn for a sense of nostalgia. The rest, we can thank the hipsters for. Strangely enough (or not), these same hipsters are heading out in droves to places like your H&Ms and Hot Topics and buying records, while not even owning a goddamned turntable. Even worse, a percentage of these folks own a turntable but don’t listen to them. Yeah, you guys are weird as f*ck.

Rihanna is now cashing in on the trend with the announcement of her massive limited edition vinyl box set, right in time for the holiday season.

Rihanna will release all eight studio albums in her catalog in a deluxe 15 LP vinyl box set on December 16, including five titles never previously available on vinyl, including Music Of The Sun (2005), Rated R (2009), Loud (2010), Talk That Talk (2011) and Unapologetic (2012). Seven of the individual titles will come as 2 LP vinyl sets, while Talk That Talk will be a single disc. The package – encased in an elegant black, high-gloss slipcase with Rihanna’s signature foil stamped on front — also includes a 186-page hard-back book comprised of every image from every studio album and reproductions of all the original CD booklets. The set also boasts an all-black turntable slipmat adored with Rihanna’s autograph.
