On the lowest of keys, Lloyd put out a fire project with his TRU EP. The former Murder Inc. singer (side note: “You” and its remix are two of the best R&B songs of the 2000s, and that isn’t up for debate) showcased significant growth and maturity in throughout the project, and is one of the more enjoyable songs to come from the blitzkrieg of December 8th drops (which included albums from J. Cole, Ab-Soul and a host of others.
The singer returns with an acoustic version of his EP’s title track. Backed by a pair of guitarists, the song’s somber lyrics about growth, loss and sorrow are even more evocative in the video. Watch below.
