As some of the denizens of the site may know, as well as one of the co-founders and editors of this site I am also a deejay: a hobby that began several years ago has since become a full-fledged “second job” of sorts, allowing me to travel across the country to play for thousands of people (and, at one point, I was the tour DJ for a young Kendrick Lamar). Some may even remember the site’s radio show, (2) Dope Radio, our weekend spectacle that was equal parts ridiculously fun and wholly unorganized.

Seriously, Shake and I would just bring food and cheap liquor, invite anybody who was free to pull up, and just play everything from Lil B to J. Cole for two hours while interacting (read: hurling jokes back and forth) with our fans via chat box. Good times.

Eventually we would stop doing the show, but a goal of mine was to return to radio in some way shape or form. Fortunately, that has finally happened.

In 2015 I formed the collective The Left Coast with some of my musically inclined friends — DJ Spintelect, tour DJ for both Talib Kweli and BJ The Chicago Kid; Where’s Nasty, a prominent fixture of the New England scene; and Cory Townes, son of the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff — and a short time later we launched our eponymous show Left Coast Radio on Dash Radio‘s XXL channel. Airing every Friday night at 10pm EST (7pm PST) (with new episodes bi-weekly), the two-hour mixshow plays everything from Kanye to kizomba, from Jermaine Dupri to J Dilla, and everything in between.

Left Coast Radio actually debuted in December 2016; however, full episodes have been and will continue to be uploaded to The Left Coast’s SoundCloud account. I’ve also uploaded my individual mixes for the show to the DopeHouse’s own SoundCloud, and will drop each mix following its initial airing here.

Tune in and listen; you might be entertained.
