Tupac’s long-awaited biopic, All Eyez On Me, will officially arrive in theaters this summer.

After getting acquired by Lionsgate, a distribution company handling U.S. distribution, they set the release date for June 16 — what would’ve been Tupac’s 46th birthday. The Hollywood Reporter shared the news.

There were rumors dating back to last year June 16 would be the release date, and it was probably the most obvious and desired date for a release anyway. An Instagram account posted a video of some of the stars celebrating the movie’s completion announcing that’d be the day the movie came out.

It was confirmed today after the movie’s rights were officially secured.

Production for the movie began in 2011, and the first tangible shots from the movie came around the beginning of 2016. The first trailer arrived in June.

All Eyez On Me will star Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Tupac, Danai Gurira as Afini Shakur and Jamal Woolard as The Notorious B.I.G.. (He played Biggie in Notorious, too.)
