It took a while, but Ta’East made his formal entrance to the music world last month with his debut retail project, Okay, I’m Ready.
The first single — “WithTheShit” — has now gotten a video that reveals a bit of backstory to the overly aggressive tones of the song.
“The concept of the ‘WithTheShit’ visual is true to life, in a sense it’s art imitating life,” he said in a press email. “I was at a period in life when I was doing something that I didn’t want to do and it was like a dark presence following me until I realized I needed to step into my purpose. When Jerome decided to come on board to shoot the visual, he understood the concept of the record and nailed it.”
Ta’East also ran through a list of influences, from David Lynch to Johnny Depp, with i-D.
