The Bronx, NY is home to one of its most talented artists of today, Tish Hyman. Her 2016 debut, Dedicated To, was one of the year’s best hidden gems, and Hyman has been hard at work on its follow-up The 17.

Dedicated To is basically my life story more focused on the past that made me who I am today,” Tish says. “The 17 is more focused my current mind state and more relative to my current situation. This album will have a lot of songs you can relate to, dance to, drive to and all around vibe to.”

However, tragedy struck Tish’s household as her mother suffered a stroke during the holidays and (at the time of this piece) has been in a coma ever since. Taking some time from the album, she has recorded a heartfelt aural letter for her, “Dear Mama: Wake Up.”

“The last conversation she had with me she said she wanted to see me win a Grammy so she could walk up on stage with me to receive it,” she says. “I came home to LA and recorded my next album and this message to her.”
