Over the years, Mass Appeal has been running their Rhythm Roulette series where they have producers blindly pick out records and make a beat from their discoveries.

Everyone from Just Blaze and 9th Wonder to Hi-Tek and Nottz have taken on the challenge. And now, it’s time for Thelonious Martin and Buda & Grandz to get with it.

Up first, Thelonious Martin (who just released his Molotov project with Brooklyn rapper Saga) ventures to A1 Records on Manhattan’s Lower East Side to see what fate has chosen for him.

Armed with vinyl from The Pointer Sisters, Hott City and Maxine Nightingale, King Thelonious made his way to Virtue and Vice Studios in Williamsburg to whip up something fresh for our earholes.

Up next, Buda & Grandz (who have produced for Dave East, Jadakiss & Beanie Sigel, The Game, etc) end up choosing records from Side Effect, Willie Banks & The Messengers, and DJ Clue, Jay Z & Ja Rule’s “Gangsta Sh*t.”

Back at The Compound in the Bronx, the production duo skip the Willie Banks record and proceed to put together a medley of soulful samples and tightly packed drums.
