Tru Life & Jim Jones Finally End Their Decade-Long Beef

blame it on Meka February 27, 2017

Now, one of New York’s fiercest rap rivalries has come to an end.

Anybody that was a fan of New York’s mid-2000s rap knew of the bitter war of words between then-Roc La Familia signee Tru Life and former Roc-A-Fella signees The Diplomats. Following their acrimonious split from the label in 2005 The Diplomats engaged in a rap beef with JAY Z, with Cam insinuating that Jay had him shot in 2005.

(Remember the press conference Cam had?)

Eventually, Tru Life would sign to the label and engage in a wild beef with Jim Jones, leading to a wild (and, at times, utterly hilarious) back-and-forth between the two: Jim alleged that he had some of his jewelry gracefully removed by Tru Life, while Tru would have his MySpace page hacked by The Diplomats.

Ultimately things would fizzle out once Tru Life would be sent to prison for six years following a 2009 assault charge. He would be released in 2016, and as it turns out the two men have resolved their differences.

The irony that now Cam’ron and Jim Jones have issues, however, isn’t lost on us.
