Love, sometimes, hurts. Like, it can really hurt. So, some take to rather extreme measures to cop with the pain.

Terrace Martin explores that dichotomy in his short film, Velvet Portrait.

In the short film, directed by A-Plus Films, follows a young man as he deals with the hurt in an all-too-familiar way: the bottle. “I’ve always looked at music as being the soundtrack to life,” Terrace said to FADER about Velvet Portrait. “Music makes you love — it’s so healing, yet it also has the power to shift you to a dark side as well. I wanted something to represent real life.”
