Marvel & Black Eyed Peas Announce ‘Masters of the Sun’ Graphic Novel

It’s been a whopping six years now (excluding 2015’s more Hip-Hop centric “Yesterday” and 2016’s “#WHERESTHELOVE” remix) since The Black Eyes Peas have given our ears a rest from their heavily pop-leaning music. With recent reports pointing towards plans for a reunion, much of the rap world is looking forward to a return to their Hip-Hop roots—sans Fergie.

In the meantime, BEP frontman will.i.am announced plans to release an all new, all original graphic novel titled Masters of the Sun: The Zombie Chronicles with Marvel, co-written by will.i.am and Benjamin Jackendoff, with artwork by artist Damion Scott (Batman, Raven, Ghost Rider) and tells the story of Los Angeles “under attack from an ancient alien God sent to earth to turn its inhabitants into zombies. With a deep love of the Hip-Hop culture, Zulu-X and his crew go head-to-head with a nefarious ancient order to settle a score thousands of years old. What happens next can only be described as the perfect blend of ancient wisdom and street-smarts all rolled into one epic adventure.”

“Few artists have done more to embed Hip-Hop in popular culture than will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas,” revealed Marvel’s Editor In Chief Axel Alonso. “So we are thrilled to present this deeply personal story that speaks directly to Hip-Hop aficionados, comic book fans and the intersection of those communities.”

Expect the graphic novel out in July at your local comic book store.
