Here’s one of the more fun Rhythm Roulettes so far.
Tuxedo, the duo of Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One, who just released Tuxedo II a couple weeks ago, join Mass Appeal’s challenge to make a beat with three records chosen at random.
Hitting up the Good Records store in New York City, the two came out with the soundtrack to the movie Blue Thunder, a 12-inch single by Logg and MFSB’s Love is the Message. Grabbing records from the time period that influenced their music, they naturally slid into producing mode and knocked out another funk-filled tune.
(Is it me or does Mayer Hawthorne now look like present-day Will Byers from Stranger Things?)
