At this point, Nas‘ album has to be done as he’s been dropping tracks all over the place. He had two songs on the soundtrack to Netflix The Get Down Part II (including “Angels With Dirty Faces“), and he teamed with DJ Shadow for “Systematic” off the soundtrack for HBO’s Silicon Valley.
The latter is the subject of a brief video from Mass Appeal. Speaking outside of Nas’ Sweet Chick restaurant in New York, the two delve on their mutual respect for one another and how Shadow’s instrumental inspired the throwback lyrics from Nas. Nas also revealed that he’d been wanting to work with DJ Shadow since he heard his work with Run The Jewels (that song would be “Nobody Speak,” from Shadow’s The Mountain Will Fall album).
That’s all fine and dandy Nas… but that album better still be coming in 2017.
