Anaheim emcee Phora first made his DopeHouse debut in 2013 with the video for “My Story.” So it’s fitting he stops by once again detailing life since then, no matter how dark its been, with his new song, “Sinner Pt. 2.”
“I just don’t show my pain,” Phora hums at the end of the song, but the statement comes after four minutes of letting everything on his mind — from familial struggles to depression — out on wax. Everything’s usually okay on the surface, but Phora lets “everything out in the open” on his new song.
“I wrote this song when I was at my lowest point in life,” Phora said in an email about the song. “Everything was changing around me… family, friends, my life. I started losing people, forever, and I started to notice myself changing. This is me being me 100% and not holding anything back.”
