Story time, ladies and germs.

Following his contribution to Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., “DUCKWORTH,” I decided to make a mix spotlighting the catalog of 9th Wonder. To be honest, my main motivation for my mixes is so that I can work out to them at the gym; they just happen to fit the aesthetics of both my radio show (Left Coast Radio) and 2DopeBoyz.

So, imagine my surprise when 9th hit my inbox asking if I wanted to share some of his unreleased tunes. As it turns out, 9th had an entire project with Mr. Cheeks of The Lost Boyz that has never seen the light of day since it was created over five years ago.

Needless to say, guess who gets to debut their vaulted collaborative project?

9th also had this to say about the EP:

“I have a ton of music on my drive. Sitting. I hate sitting music.

“I first connected with Mr. Cheeks in 2008, who has always had a close relationship with North Carolina. After I opened BrightLady Studios in 2010, one of the first artists to bless the booth in Jamla’s new home was Mr. Cheeks. Seven years later, after speaking with Mr. Cheeks’ manager Janet Williams of The Matriarch Agency, who has always supported the Jamla family, we decided to let these fly.

“Arranged by AMP and 9th Wonder for The Illustrious Soul Council. Recorded in BrightLady Studios, Raleigh, NC. Shouts to NC, Southside Jamaica Queens, and beyond. Enjoy. As always……For The Culture.”

Stream 9th Wonder and Mr. Cheeks’ The Lost Tapes below. Just a head up, 9th: if you want the DopeHouse to help you liberate some of those other tunes you have sitting, we’d be more than happy to oblige.
