Joyner Lucas – “Just Like You”

Since signing a deal with Atlantic at the tail end of last year, Joyner Lucas has spent the last few months putting in work on his official major label debut, The 508 Project.

After kicking off the campaign in March with a hilarious video for “Ultrasound,” where he and an elderly lady roll around in a golf cart and pound 40’s at the liquor store, the Worcester, Mass emcee tones down the humor and gets serious with “Just Like You.”

Produced by Boi-1da, Nineteen85 and Dawaun Parker, “Just Like You” arrives from the perspective of young kids who aren’t with the f*ckery their parents are involved with and don’t want to grow up to be just like them.

The video really drives the message home with a boy and girl both hitting their parents in the face with a two-piece of reality on how much weight their actions really hold on the future of their offspring. The youth need role models and guidance, not deadbeats and ignorance.

Directed by Ben Proulx and Joyner Lucas.
