The last time we heard new music from Kali Uchis was over a year ago.
The VA-by-way-of-Colombia singer linked with Steve Lacy, Vince Staples and Kaytranada for “Only Girl,” which was her first new release since her Por Vida mixtape. She’s ready to release her debut album this year, though, and that begins with her new song “Tyrant” — a collaboration with Jorja Smith.
In an interview with Zane Lowe after the song premiered on Beats 1, Uchis said her next album will feature the likes of Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Damon Albarn from Gorillaz and Bootsy Collins, which, damn, that’s a helluva beginning to a tracklist.
She also said she just returned from Paris, where she shot the video for “Tyrant.” Ready to roll out the new album, listen to “Tyrant” below.
