Thanks to some fortunate (and most definitely strategic) placement on Apple Music’s Hot Tracks list, many — including us — discovered Sabrina Claudio over the last week. (She was featured on a DUCKWRTH song, “I’m Dead,” that we featured last year, for what it’s worth.)
As Complex points out, her new song, “Unravel Me,” was placed right under Katy Perry’s new song with Nicki Minaj, “Swish Swish,” when Apple Music updated last week, so as people went to listen to a song that joined two of the biggest pop stars in the world, listeners heard Claudio right after.
Claudio has a solid SoundCloud following — go figure, that’s where these “where did they come from” stars come from today — but the placement has garnered Claudio a couple hundred thousand streams of “Unravel Me” across various platforms.
It’s not like the attention is not earned, though. “Unravel Me” is beautiful and calming, with her vocals flipped into a fluttering sample on the hook as she sings about the intimacies and struggles of a newfound love. You introduce yourself to Claudio below, and you can cop the single on iTunes.
