Welcome To Wakanda: Watch the First ‘Black Panther’ Teaser Trailer

“The world is changing. Soon there will only be the conquered. And the conquerors.”

It’s still incredibly astonishing to think that we’ve been blessed with 15 films since the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008, beginning with Iron Man, with the majority of the movies garnering universal acclaim and yuge box office earnings (as of this writing, they’ve accumulated over $11 billion).

Phase three of Marvel’s unparalleled world building is giving us not six, but ten films in the next two years, set off by the latest phase’s tentpole blockbuster Captain America: Civil War, followed by Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 — with Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Raganarok to follow in the next few months.

But never mind all that. We’re 100% here and extremely excited for the first ever Black Panther teaser trailer, which debuted recently during the NBA Finals. Mind you, the film only started filming this January.

As with most teaser trailers, much of the plot of is left ambiguous, thankfully. We are introduced to a familiar face: Ulysses Klaue (portrayed by Andy Serkis) whom we last saw in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, currently being interrogated by Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman, whom we last saw in Civil War).

The rest of the teaser gives us a better glimpse into the futuristic, sacrosanct nation of Wakanda and its prestigious people, (not-yet-King) T’Challa, aka Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and the highly-efficient Dora Milaje — all set to the tone of Run the Jewels‘ “Legend Has It.”

Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger), Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Forest Whitaker (Zuri), Angela Bassett (Ramonda), Daniel Kaluuya (W’Kabi), Winston Duke (M’Baku, aka Man-Ape (!), Martin Freeman (Everett K. Ross) and Andy Serkis (Ulysses Klaue) arrives in theaters February 16, 2018. No word on if Bucky Barnes will appear.
