Wasiu Is A ‘Snow Mexican’ On New EP

blame it on Patrick Glynn June 9, 2017

Wasiu is upfront about who his influences are. His last project, MTLiens, drew straight from the lineage of OutKast, from the project name down to making music about feeling like an outsider while living in Montreal. He draws from the same straw on Snow Mexican, his latest EP, which interpolates Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle project on the cover.

The content of Snow Mexican continues where his last project left off, getting more personal on songs like “Daddy Issues” and “MTLien” — a song that seemingly would’ve fit on his last project. “Being Half Nigerian, Half Haitian, neither community really accepted me because I’m only half,” Wasiu explained of “MTLien,” but it can apply to the project as a whole. “My mother’s a Christian while my father’s Muslim. Both sides kept telling me the other side is wrong, yet I’ve learned about both.”

Wasiu also released the video for “No Jumper,” too. Watch it below.
