JAY Z Has New Music With Damian Marley On The Way

blame it on Meka June 14, 2017

So, JAY Z is definitely working on an album.

Or a movie. Or a commercial. Well, he’s working on something.

The mogul sent the hip hop world into a tizzy with those “mysterious” 4:44 ads that were splayed all throughout various websites (including the DopeHouse) and billboards throughout New York, only for many to be disappointed when — during Game 3 of the 2017 NBA Finals — it was quasi-revealed to be a film (or short film) starring Oscar winners Mahershala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o and Danny Glover. The spot also, formally, announced the recent union of Sprint and TIDAL; back in January 2017 Sprint announced that they purchased a 33 percent stake in TIDAL for approximately $200 million.

However, all Jigga fans should know at this point to read between the lines.

Conspiracy theorists (or, just very observant people) would point out the instrumental being played throughout the 4:44 ad, which some felt was a beat off JAY’s long-in-the-works thirteenth album. Now, definitive proof that he is indeed working on something has surfaced.

Various Jamaica publications have reported that Jay has been in their country, where he spent some time and shot a video with reggae legends Junior Reid and Damian Marley, as well as record with Damian and Sister Nancy.

Damian even confirmed that they worked on music to Billboard. “Well, I did some work with him for some stuff that he’s working on,” Marley says. “I’m not really sure of the details of his project in that sense, but we worked on some music together. I’ve been a fan of his music since he came out. We’ve never done any musical work together. So that was a joy to finally work together musically.”

It was previously reported in January that producer Zaytoven hit the studio with him. Jay’s last album was 2013’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, but he’s remained in the spotlight recently thanks to “Shining” with Beyoncé and DJ Khaled.

In short, it’s not a matter of “if” JAY Z has some new music on the horizon, it’s a matter of “when.”
