Jehs Beats & Mr. Brown – “Taking It All Back” f. Jean Grae

blame it on JES7 June 17, 2017

Goddamn it, Jean, we miss you!

Last year, we saw Jean Grae show up intermittently, contributing “What You Came For” for the third visual issue of the Black Panther comics and swinging a “Meat Cleaver” alongside Bodega Brovaz. Outside of that, we haven’t heard much from the Brooklyn bomber.

It’s now June 2017 and we finally have our latest Jean Greasy spotting, flexing her underrated singing skills which perfectly complements Jehs Beats & Mr. Brown moody production on “Taking It All Back.” Jean nonchalantly weaves back-and-forth from singing to rapping, with ripping lines like “Can they really say I didn’t put my soul in it / Pour myself into a bucket with the hole in it / Limit myself to nothing for what is a cold world / And I’m an old girl, I don’t need new chicks.”

If speakeasies were still popular today, “Taking It All Back” would be the official soundtrack wafting through the haze of cigar smoke.
