Cookin’ Soul Salute Prodigy With Tribute Remix

blame it on JES7 June 24, 2017

On Tuesday, June 20th, the Hip-Hop world was shattered with the tragic news of Mobb Deep‘s Prodigy and his untimely death. After battling with the deadly disease known as sickle-cell anemia, the legendary 42-year-old emcee passed away due to “complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis.”

Prodigy heroically detailed the physical suffering he’s endured all these years dealing with the hereditary disease on “You Can Never Feel My Pain,” where he rapped “I ain’t feelin you at all, your pain isn’t pure / You cryin cause you broke from the projects / That’s not pain, that’s emotions, you a bitch / I’m talkin bout permanent, physical suffering / You know nothin about that, you just complain cause you stressed / N*gga, my pain’s in the flesh.”

Just like the rest of us, the news of P’s death came as a shock to Dave of Cookin’ Soul, who considers the HNIC one of his favorite emcees.

To pay tribute to the Queens legend, Cookin’ Soul put together a tribute mix, blending Prodigy’s a cappella verse from the “Just Step Prelude” with a fresh instrumental.
