The name, and voice, of Baka Not Nice (or, just Baka) has been heard throughout several of Drake‘s album, most notably on “From Time,” “Know Yourself” (“I might declare it a holiday as soon as Baka get back on the road!”) and “Gyalchester.” One of the rapper’s close friends-slash-“bodyguards,” Baka has spent a considerable amount of time in and out of prison.
Lately though, he shifted into doing rap music, dropping “Whip” in 2016. During episode 44 of OVO Sound radio Baka’s second-ever single “Live Up To My Name” debuted, and the song has quickly become one of Toronto’s most popular tracks of 2017.
Thanks to the success, Baka Not Nice how now signed to Drake’s OVO Sound imprint, joining the likes of PARTYNEXTDOOR, dvsn, Majid Jordan, Roy Wood$ and newcomer Plaza.
Not sure if a full-length project will come from Baka, but congrats regardless.
