We here at the DopeHouse first heard about the passing of Prodigy — one-half of the legendary Mobb Deep — through Nas‘ Instagram.
Esco posted a picture of Prodigy with the caption “QB RIP King P. Prodigy 4 Ever” on June 20, which revved up a slew of tributes from in and outside of the rap world to the rapper who passed due to complications with sickle cell anemia.
Since his passing, Nas has paid tribute to his fallen enemy/comrade at various shows, including at a festival in the Netherlands this weekend. Nas played and performed Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones, Pt. 2” before starting an “R.I.P. Prodigy” chant.
