Terrace Martin & The Pollyseeds – “Mama D/Leimert Park”

blame it on Patrick Glynn July 11, 2017

Terrace Martin & The Pollyseeds‘ first album as a whole is coming out this week. Sounds Of Crenshaw Vol. 1 has seen songs like “Intentions,” “Up & Away” and a cover of Janet Jackson’s “Funny How Time Flies” see the light of day, and just a couple days before the album’s release, the collective share one more single: “Mama D/Leimert Park.”

Kicked off by a familiar drum pattern, the song is, of any that’ve been released so far, what seems like the most solo Terrace Martin song of the bunch as Martin’s saxophone navigates the repetitive drums over the five minutes.

The Pollyseeds feature a rotating group of musicians, from Robert Glasper to Rose Gold to Kamasi Washington to Problem and more. Sound of Crenshaw is available on iTunes, and you can listen to “Mama D/Leimert Park” below.
