Kelela announced her long-awaited debut album, Take Me Apart, will drop in October. She also released the project’s first single, the sleek and forward “LMK.” The single now has a video, where she’s seen strutting down a tight-knit hallway with confidence in various outfits all while telling her man to just let her know what’s good with their relationship.
We wanted make a video that showcases the multiplicity of who Kelela is and who she has the potential to be,” the video’s director Andrew Thomas Huang said. “The message of this video is empowerment: it’s for the girls, for anyone whose heart has been trampled on and deserves to go out and feel good about themselves. It’s a call to action, demanding to be taken and to be quick about it.”
