For over a decade, Brooklyn-based indie label Coalmine Records has amassed an extensive discography, putting out records for DopeHouse mainstays and alumni which include Bekay, Heltah Skeltah, J-Live, Brown Bag AllStars, Chaundon, El Da Sensei and many, many more.

The storied Hip-Hop label has also released a number of compilations, from 2014’s Unearthed and 2015’s Remineded (A Collection of New & Old Remixes), plus albums from Planet Asia and DJ Concept (Seventy Nine), Guilty Simpson and Small Professor (Highway Robbery), and Saga and Thelonious Martin (Molotov), just to name a few.

To help celebrate the “many phenomenal instrumentals that have landed on [their] projects over the years,” Coalmine Records is readying something very special for this year’s Cassette Store Day (October 14th).

Announcing the Beats, Mines and Life: An Instrumental Journey project, the 14-track instrumental album will feature production from Nottz, M-Phazes, Small Professor, Ayatollah, J57 and more.

As the title suggests, the project is an ode of sorts to A Tribe Called Quest‘s 1996 classic, Beats, Rhymes and Life.

With just a few months until its release, Coalmine Records has unleashed the first instrumental, Max I Million‘s remix of C.L. Smooth and Skyzoo‘s 2008 cut, “Perfect Timing.”

Press play below and pre-order digitally on iTunes, on cassette, or head down to your any local record store participating in Cassette Store Day on Oct. 14th.

BONUS: Coalmine Records have also re-released Sean Price and M-Phazes Land of the Crooks on vinyl, with new bonus tracks not found on the original release. Purchase via Fat Beats.
