Producer J Wells, a multi-platinum producer who has crafted beats for the likes of Snoop Dogg, the Dungeon Family and more has joined forces with the Likwit Crew‘s Styliztik Jones to form the duo Stylz & Wells.
90s heads may recall the Likwit Crew collective’s work, which included Tha Alkaholiks, Phil Da Agony, Xzibit, Defari, King T and more, so it’s nice to see Styliztik—the legendary battle rapper—still bubbling above ground with new work.
As Stylz revealed to HHDX, “Involved” is meant to “inspire,” continuing “It’s a song with a message, but it’s not preachy. I think the misconception with hip-hop is that it’s got to be dumb. You can do smart ratchet rap. You can make music that’s upbeat and still talk about something.”
To set the stage for an upcoming, as-yet-titled EP, Stylz & Wells tap Symphony Green for their “Involved” visual.
