LeBron James officially embarked on his NBA career. The music world lost both Celia Cruz and Nina Simone, while the wrestling world lost the original Mr. Perfect, Curt Hennig. And JAY-Z released his then-swan song, The Black Album.

In 2003 Joe Budden released his eponymously titled major label debut, via Def Jam. So, like most rap neophytes, he took his talents across the pond to spend time on Tim Westwood‘s radio show, gracing the microphone with a freestyle over 50 Cent‘s “Back Down.”
