Having been a presence in R&B for nearly two decades and counting, Musiq Soulchild has been one of the purveyors of neo-soul R&B throughout his entire career (we’re… just going to pretend that that whole The Husel thing never existed). Now independent, Musiq has released his eighth album Feel The Real.
The follow-up to 2016’s Life On Earth is a double-disc, 23-track effort. Feel The Real boasts features from Marsha Ambrosius (on the album’s title track), Willie Hyn (on three tracks), Neil deGrasse Tyson (on “The Moon”) and… The Husel (on “One More Time.” Guess we can’t pretend that never happened), and is led by the singles “Humble Pie,” “Sooner Or Later” and “Simple Things.”
