The wait for ScHoolboy Q‘s next album is nearly over.
Having released Blank Face last summer, Q wasted no time announcing a follow-up this past December. Two months later, he revealed the album was “half way done.” And now, he’s reached the final lap, revealing he’s now “90% done” with his fifth studio album.
“I said once my album 90% done I was going back 2 da gym…. well, I’m back,” Groovy Q revealed on Instagram with a video of him sparring.
“It’s moreso my life after I made it to the point of ScHoolboy Q,” the TDE rapper told Zane Lowe in February. “I gave you me, but I never gave you the other side of me: the father, the dude that’s actually happy, the dude that doesn’t be in the hood just hanging out. The dude that’s trying to put his homies in position now. I’m not a deadbeat father anymore.”
Now, the question is, when can we expect the album? Back in April, Top Dawg confirmed Jay Rock (who’s “close to life off“) and ScHoolboy Q would follow Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN and SZA’s CTRL to complete the calendar year.
That question needs an answer. Until then, we’re just gonna relive Q bullying his way through tracks with Joey Bada$$ (“Rockabye Baby“), Styles P (“Table“), CyHi the Prynce (“Movin’ Around“), and A$AP Mob (“Bahamas“).
