Lil Uzi Vert Celebrates XXL’s 20th Anniversary

Celebrating their twentieth anniversary, XXL Magazine commemorates the milestone with a special edition featuring “twenty artists at the top of their game” on twenty different covers.

Lil Uzi Vert is one of those artists. Following Wiz Khalifa‘s piece, the 2016 Freshman actually speaks on how life has changed — for better or worse — in the time since he graced the cover.

“I’ll say about 85 percent of my life’s been stolen,” he laments. “The fans. That’s who’s really the fans. It’s cool, though. I get it, I really get it, ’cause I just was at home being a fan, and still [am] a fan of some people. So, like, I get it, I get it. You see me on TV and I’m doing the most. I got the most diamonds, got everything, you know how my life goes. They just think I don’t breathe like them, I don’t get sick like them and that’s all. They think I’m just on TV, like, I’m just a cartoon or something.”

He also speaks on his unabashed Stannery for Mike Jones, working with Pharrell (on “Neon Guts,” from his chart-topping Luv Is Rage 2 project), and more. The entire interview can be read here. A behind-the-scenes look at the shoot can be seen below.
