Ten Years Later…

blame it on 2DBZ October 14, 2017

On this day in 2007, 2dopeboyz.com was officially opened for business. Since then, nothing’s been the same.

The Beginning of Something Serious (Oct. 14, 2007)
The title says it all. Ladies and gentlemen be prepared. With time, this will be THE place to check out for hip hop news, new joints, and more. Myself and my dude Meka are ready to takeover. We just need the audience. You ready?

Joel “Shake” Zela: It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years. When we started this, our hope was to expose quality music to the masses. Looking back, I’d like to think we left our mark on the culture. So much has changed in the last decade, both in my professional and personal life, and I’ll forever be grateful for the journey. I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m ready for it. And if you were ever a supporter, I sincerely thank you.

Meka Udoh: On October 14, 2007, I had just been fired from my job, lived in a hole-in-the-wall apartment in Inglewood, CA, and was petrified because I had no idea of what the future held. But, thanks to this white guy I’d randomly met off the internet, my life has changed for the better. Ten years later, that same guy and I helped change the landscape of how music is heard and processed. I’m eager to start the next chapter in my life, whatever that may be, but now I welcome the future with open arms instead of fear. To all those who have supported and helped me along the way, I could never show you the immense amount of thanks I have you all personally. So, this long-winded diatribe will suffice.
