Dumbfoundead is a ‘Rocket Man’ On New EP

blame it on Meka December 15, 2017

Tapping into his politically conscious side, Dumbfoundead follows up his Foreigner EP with Rocket Man. The title serves as a double entendre: it is both a jab at Agent Orange’s nickname for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, while speaking on complex immigrant experiences.

Coincidentally, the video for the title track — which can be seen below — got Dumb banned from South Korea for its references to Trump and Kim Jong Un.

On his six-track EP, Dumbfoundead speaks on complex immigrant experiences, having been smuggled into the States himself after being born in Argentina. “This EP had me thinking about my dad and mom coming to this country as immigrants,” he says. “I tried to think from their perspectives – they’ve made a lot of mistakes, so this is not just about the ‘triumphant immigrant’… it’s me turning up, getting ratchet! I don’t want to tell just the immigrant success story, this is about everything going on right now and how we have to survive.”
