August Greene (Common, Robert Glasper & Karriem Riggins) Drop “Black Kennedy”

Following their Emmy-winning song “Letter To The Free,” for Ava DuVernay’s documentary 13th, Common, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins have formed the group August Greene.Now aiming to release their collaborative debut album on March 9th, the trio have released their second single — following “Optimistic” with Brandy — Black Kennedy.”

“The process of creating this song gave me chills. It is a theme that represents royalty and brilliance, “Riggins said. “It also has J Dilla’s influences, and it reminded us of the great times spent with him creating music.”

“For many people the Kennedy family symbolizes royalty and represents power, style, and influence. And I thought if I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it in a Black way,” Common added.
