In case you missed the memo, Jean Grae and Quelle Chris are releasing a joint album called Everything’s Fine on March 30th. Leading up the the release, the duo (who happen to be engaged in real life) have shared two singles and a hilarious video. And today, they’re back with another one.

Following the Hannibal Buress-assisted “OhSh” and glamour shot-driven “Gold Purple Orange,” Grae and Chris keep it coming with “Zero.”

A loving and painstaking recreation of the sonic and visual aesthetic of early 90’s video games, “Zero” follows Jean (who plays an assassin name Zero) as she tracks down an evil CEO known as Mad Red, leaving a bloody path of destruction in her wake. All soundtracked by aggressive lyricism over Quelle’s thumping production.

A true DIY project, Quelle Chris even took command of all design and animation duties, teaching himself to program 32-bit games over a two month span.

“I wanted watchers to have a ‘phantom joystick’ moment,” says Quelle. “I watched hours and hours and hours of game play-throughs and speed-runs to get the authenticity and pace of the video just right. Jean has always had her assassin story running through all of her albums so I decided to go with that as a base and squeeze in as many references to my favorite type of games as I could.”
