It’s been two years since Darkness and Light arrived, but it looks like John Legend may be ready to start the campaign on his next album. Well, hopefully.
After taking it to the “Penthouse Floor” with Chance the Rapper back in October, Legend connects with BloodPop for his first new single of the year, “A Good Night.”
Drenched in summer-ready vibes, the disco-tinged jam is all about meeting that special someone and falling in love on sight.
“The song and the video are about a magical night where you meet someone you immediately connect with and can envision a future together,” Legend says. “You’re single, dating, probably using all the apps people use now (I haven’t dated since the advent of Tinder, etc, but it’s a fascinating era in romance), and not finding someone special. But one night – maybe caught up in the music or the drinks or whatever – you meet someone that changes everything.”
Considering John Legend has been married to Chrissy Teigen for about five years now, we’re gonna assume the singer had a specific moment in mind while penning his latest effort—which was released with a matching video.
Directed by Mishka Kornai, who shot the video using Google’s new Pixel 2 phone, “A Good Night” can be experienced below.
