Call him “Professor Abstract” now.

Billboard reports that Q-Tip has been appointed to teach a course at New York University.

Along with journalist Ashley Kahn, Kamaal will teach at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute Of Recorded Music In The Tisch School of the Arts. The two will helm a seven-class curriculum that will “explore the underappreciated connections between jazz and hip-hop and combines historical and social perspectives with the opportunity to produce original music at the nexus of the two genres.”

Artists including The Last Poets, Kendrick Lamar and — of course — A Tribe Called Quest will be highlighted throughout the course.

“I couldn’t be more excited to share with the students what I know and I look forward to them also teaching me,” Tip said in a statement. “Teaching is an exchange of sharing and receiving for all involved,” said Q-Tip.

The course begins September 5th.
