Detroit’s Magestik Legend Drops New Album, ‘All This Time’

Mostly known around these parts as a member of The Black Opera, Magestik Legend has been making moves in the Detroit hip-hop scene for over two decades.

Today, the emcee/producer looks to build on his legacy with the release of his third solo album, All This Time.

His first solo full-length since 2015’s Legend Has It, Magestik wasn’t about to release another traditional “Detroit hip-hop record” and decided to expand his reach as a result of years of artistic self-discovery through creative experimentation.

“This project sounds like an artist just letting himself be in the moment until it passes, and that is exactly what Magestik did,” a statement from The Black Opera reads. “Most of the songs were made on the spot – with freestyles, melodies, and rhythms that painted the picture of exactly how he felt in that instance. Uniquely designed to go against the grain, ‘All This Time’ is a vibe. It can only be captured once in a lifetime, and is the culmination of ML’s ability to craft a piece of perfect imperfection on his own terms. ‘All This Time’ is Magestik’s full exploration of who he is as an artist.”

Coming off as a diary of an everyday man and OG whose rich history and influence in his hometown has been largely overlooked, Magestik took all his best and worst memories in life and smashed them together on All This Time. Produced entirely by himself, he invited Jamall Bufford, Opio and a few others to help assist on vocals.
