R+R=NOW Enlist Omari Hardwick for “Needed You Still”

With just a week to go before R+R=NOW release their Collagically Speaking album, Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin and the rest come through with another single.

By now, you should know what this is all about. But just in case, here’s another reminder…

Last year, Robert Glasper formed a supergroup with the likes of Terrace Martin, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah on trumpet, Derrick Hodge on bass, Taylor McFerrin on synth and beatbox, and newcomer Justin Tyson on drums. Together as R+R=NOW, the group came together when Glasper was asked to put together an all-star line-up for a SXSW show in Austin. After rocking the show, all parties involved reunited in Hollywood and proceeded to record an album’s worth of music, comprised of their first run through each song.

“I love the first take because it’s the most honest take,” says Glasper. “There’s something about the spirit of it. I don’t record until I’m ready and I don’t do extra takes just to do it—you burn out. We’d chill, watch some basketball, have some drinks, and hit record when the vibe was right.”

So far, we’ve “Chance of Tone” and “Colors in the Dark.” And now, we’re blessed with a third offering from the project, which finds the band enlisting the voice of Ghost Omari Hardwick for “Needed You Still.”

Check it out below and be sure to press play on Collagically Speaking when it arrives on June 15.
