Returning to Netflix after its acclaimed 2016 debut, Luke Cage returns for a second season on the streaming platform in a matter of days (June 22nd). Accompanying the second season of Jessica Jones, the series will continue the adventures of the bulletproof superhero.
Already notching strong early reviews, a final trailer for the season has been released. This time, the spotlight is centered around antagonist Mariah Dillard (portrayed by Alfre Woodard). “Harlem doesn’t need a hero,” she says. “It needs a queen.”
Luke will also have to deal with a new super-villain in the form of Bushmaster, played by Mustafa Shakir, as well. But from the looks of things, Bushmaster and Mariah aren’t entirely friends either. Watch the trailer below.
What’s also pretty cool about Season 2 is that, like its predecessor, each episode is named after a classic hip hop song. Whereas the first season was named after Gang Starr titles, Pete Rock and CL Smooth take over Season 2.
