Brasstracks – “Stay Here” f. Xavier Omär

blame it on Shake June 25, 2018

Back in October of last year, Brasstracks came through with an EP called For Those Who Know pt.1. And now, the Brooklyn duo are back with a sequel on the horizon.

With Vol. 2 dropping later this summer, Brasstracks kick off the campaign with “Stay There” with Xavier Omär.

“With ‘Stay There,’ we really wanted a song that everyone would latch onto melodically from the jump, but we knew that would require a really serious singer… so we hit up Xavier Omär after we wrapped the instrumental,” Ivan and Conor says about the collaboration. “He sent back stems in less than a week and KILLED it. The concept of ‘now that you’re gone, you gotta stay gone’ — we related to that. As a side note, we just want y’all to play this at your BBQ’s this summer.”

“While the concept came from a situation in my life that was relevant at the time, I literally just said the first thing that came to my head when I heard the chord progression,” Omär adds. “I ended up focusing in on the concept of someone who either left your life or they took your time for granted, so you left. The main focus is, now that you’re gone you have to stay gone, because I don’t want to revisit what we went through. Since the situation was relevant in my life at the time, it made it easy to write.”
