Jacob Banks – “In the Name of Love”

Jacob Banks is back with another one.

Ever since he remixed “Monster” with Boogie, I’ve been checking his catalog (last year’s The Boy Who Cried Freedom EP still gets spins) and waiting on what’s next.

So far, we’ve heard “Unknown (To You)” get flipped by Timbaland. And now, the Nigerian born, UK-based soul singer comes through with “In the Name of Love,” a triumphant song—produced by Oak (Miguel, Alicia Keys, Alessia Cara)—that will be featured in Denzel Washington’s upcoming flick, The Equalizer 2, hitting theaters July 20th.

“‘In the Name of Love’ has a beautiful and important message about love that reflects exactly what our world needs to hear today,” the film’s directer Antoine Fuqua says. “The lyrics cut deep and Jacob’s vocals are unmatched.”

“It’s a perfect counterpoint to the intense, visceral action of the film – it’s anthemic and hits close to home as McCall’s fight for justice becomes a very personal one,” adds Spring Aspers, Head of Music for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
