Nicki Minaj Taps Nas For “Sorry”

blame it on Wongo August 11, 2018

More than a week before Nicki Minaj released Queen, she revealed to fans that due to a failed sample clearance she would have to either move the album a week back from the initial Aug. 10th release date or leave the song off the album.

Posing the question on Twitter, Nicki decided to to push the album back thanks to feedback from her fans. However, Queen arrived on Aug. 10th without said song. A day later, courtesy of Funk Flex, Nicki delivered the song.

“Sorry” features a verse by Nas and includes a sample of Tracy Chapman’s 1988 track “Baby Can I Hold You” (or, more popularly, covered in Foxy’s 1989 dancehall classic, “Sorry (Baby Can I Hold You)“) Nicki previously revealed that a failed clearance from Tracy was the reason the track was not included on the album.
