36 Trap Houses.

When it comes to mash-up projects, DJ Critical Hype is one of the best in the business. Whether it’s Kanye West and Chance the Rapper (Chance the Dropout), Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre (The DAMN Chronic), Drake and 9th Wonder (More 9th), or any of the blend tapes he’s laced for Danny Brown, Nate Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and countless others, the Canadian producer has been doing his thing for years.

And now, with the A3C Festival right around the cover, the Atlanta-based outfit has enlisted Critical Hype to combine the talents of 2 Chainz and the almighty Wu-Tang Clan.

The result? Wu Chainz: 36 Trap Houses, a 23-minute project that blends 2 Chainz verses over vintage Wu production.

“When A3C approached me about Wu-Chainz, I thought the concept was sick and was instantly curious about how it would sound,” Critical Hype says. “Grinding the project out over the last few months, it became clear pretty quickly 2 Chainz witty southern raps sounded right at home over the incredible RZA/Wu production. I always enjoy the process of blending two different sounds together to create something new – so having the opportunity to do it with a legendary act like Wu-Tang and one of my favorite artists in 2 Chainz has been an amazing experience.”
