Every Thursday night, I make it a point to check out all the newly-released music that hits streaming services — both songs and projects I was already looking forward to, plus an assortment of songs from artists I haven’t heard of. It gets tedious, but there’s usually a couple gems that rise to the top and I end up having another artist to follow.
Last night, on top of adding projects from Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign, Joell Ortiz and Apollo Brown, NAO, and Mick Jenkins, I came across a song called “Roll Some Mo” by Lucky Daye. I press play, listened once, and was hooked.
Boom, Lucky Daye added.
Now, who’s Lucky Daye? Well, there’s not much out there (or, at least it’s tough to Google), but the Los Angeles artist has signed with Keep Cool Records. And considering how solid the team is over there (what up, Tunji?!), I’ve got high hopes for what he’s got coming down the pipeline. Until then, press play and vibe out to “Roll Some Mo” below.
