Drake Celebrates 10 Years of ‘So Far Gone’ with Streaming Release

blame it on Shake February 13, 2019

Ten years ago, in the early morning hours of February 13, 2009, Drake crashed the internet with the release of his highly-anticipated So Far Gone mixtape.

It’s a moment I’ll never forget. Frequenting refreshing the October’s Very Own blog for updates, relaying information (like a random Omarion appearance) to our readers, and just shooting the shit in the comment section while we waited (and waited) for what turned out to be a game-changing release in hip hop history.

To celebrate the project’s 10th anniversary, Drake took to Instagram to reminisce and reach out to everyone that was involved—from Bun B and Trey Songz to LeBron James and Lil Wayne with a memory of their time a decade in the past.

He even hit Kanye West with a shout (and shade) for using his “Say You Will” beat. Which, unfortunately, would become one of the reasons for their current fallout, with Kanye throwing a wrench in Drake’s plans of releasing So Far Gone on streaming services by refusing to clear it.

“A decade ago I rapped over your beat cause you just made the best shit,” he said. “And even though you stay wildin’ on Twitter these days, I will never forget what you contributed to the game and my career.”
