Endtroducing… Meka’s Soul Mix Show

blame it on Meka October 16, 2007

For those who know me you know what I do, but for those who don’t, allow me to reintroduce myself. I go by a plethora of monikers, aliases & other random shit, but for this particular section, I’ll go by Meka. My other half, Meka Soul, runs a little something over at Hip Hop DX called Slap-Boxing With Jesus. You may have heard it.

A few months ago a couple higher-ups over there asked if I wanted to jump into a new venture with my musically inclined opposite Shake. I agreed, but rather than try to muscle in on the hip-hop news corner like my White-but-Blacker-than-most-Blacks brother, I wanted to set up my own block for the fiends: a variety of musical tastes I hope they can all enjoy. Consider this a never-ending, online mixtape of sorts. If any of you humps are interested in recommending any music, feel free to hit my contact.

To get a gist of the Soul Mix Show, allow me to introduce Tom Scott. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to delve too much into his legacy, but for those who don’t know Mr. Scott’s jazz-fusion stylings, look no further than Pete Rock’s wanton sampling of “Today” for one of his most revered songs.

Tom Scott – Today (So … do you know what Pete Rock joint sampled this?)
