Closed Session w/ Rapper Big Pooh & Truck North (Video)

blame it on Shake August 23, 2009

The first installment of RubyHornet‘s Closed Session series featured the Hot Spitta. And now they are back with Truck North & Big Pooh.

Truck North was in town working and performing with Mikkey Halsted. We met Truck a week or so before when he was in Chicago for Rock The Bells and asked him to participate in our new feature. Truck obliged, and sat with us at SoundScape where went through some new Tony Baines beats. Truck was about half way through when he got call from Big Pooh of Little Brother, who was in town for a show with Just Blaze. Big Pooh came through the studio, heard the beat, and was just waiting for an invitation to jump on board. The finished result was Dutch Dalton named after the All-Star catcher from the Philly’s, and a line in Truck first verse where he says, “I’m on my Dutch Dalton”.

Look for the end result (.mp3) to hit the internets some time this week. And speaking of Mikkey… hit the jump for his performance at SneakerPimps’ Chicago stop.

Mikk performed a handful of never-before-heard tracks, including I’m The Man (prod. SC) and Zoom, which had the crowd even more anxious to hear what’s in store with his debut, Chicago: The Photo Album. The track above is a potential first single from The Photo Album (at least I’d like to see it), produced by No I.D. entitled Yes Y’all. It features his sister Miss Criss – and there’s also a remix floating around featuring The Cool Kids. Below find They Shootin, which is a joint he performs over Nas’ Made You Look and the No I.D.-produced Karma
